Jumble Minded People

When your mind runs a million miles per minute, it’s hard to get your thoughts in order. Have you ever had to detangle thread? Not yarn, I mean the really, really tiny thread seems like it only exists to give you a hard time. If you have, you understand how impossible it seems to make sense of the jumbled tangled string that appears to have no end. If you haven’t, well, you get the picture.

For us, jumble-brained people, explaining things and keeping your mind going in one straight direction seems unfathomable. Impossible even.

Everyone is different, and everyone’s mind works in different, beautiful ways but for mine, explaining something simple and relatively easy to understand feels like I’m describing a way out of an endless maze.

My excuse is, “I write better than I talk.”

Honestly, that pisses me off. I can’t have a simple conversation sometimes without my mind splitting off into thousands of different highways.

don’t even get me started on overthinking.

Overthinking has made me lose so much sleep that it makes me sick. It’s like the rabbit hole off of Alice in Wonderland only PLOT TWIST there are no cakes that make you grow or shrink, no talking rabbits, no red queen, no drugged-up caterpillar, and no creepy cat. Just an endless tunnel filled with pain and darkness.

Overthinking only leads to bad thoughts that fill your head and make you sick; Mentally, emotionally, and physically. It destroys trust and relationships.

Trust me, I know.

All this is to say: I know what people with jumbled minds and fast-paced thoughts feel and you’re definitely NOT alone. I know how it feels to be embarrassed that you can’t think straight or explain how you’re feeling (At least not in a way people can understand).

So what can we do to finally untangle that string?

I found that poetry, reading, and playing my guitar (Albeit not that great) are my outlets. My mind goes quiet and enjoys the moment.

Of course, not everybody enjoys those things, so just find a hobby. Explore different activities and experiment with different things. You’re bound to find something that you love and that calms you.
